Renee Monroe is a multidisciplinary artist and art educator living in Columbia, MO. She obtained a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts with an emphasis in photography and a minor in education from Columbia College, graduating summa cum laude in 2018.

In her studio practice, Monroe focuses on a wide range of subjects addressing identity, the weight of emotional labor, and the expression of memory. Her orientation of these concepts dictates the medium and style to materialize her vision - commonly using oil paint, alternative process, and ink. In the past decade, Monroe has exhibited in various solo and group shows nationwide, including the Cape Cod Museum of Art, The Katonah Museum of Art, and the Loveland Museum. In her newest work, unveiling in 2021, she blends old photographs with painted organic lines, and geometric shapes to express nostalgia associated with memory and visual stimulation. Monroe’s work can be found at Living Canvas Tattoo and Gallery, the Columbia Art League, and in private collections.
